AI That Shows Up for Patients

How MOHARA helped Acolyte build a multilingual video platform that puts trusted doctors in patients' pockets, without adding workload to hospitals.

Client Background

Acolyte is a healthtech innovator which began focusing on solving one of healthcare's most overlooked problems: communication between doctors and patients. Based on the belief that clear, accessible guidance can change patient outcomes, Acolyte set out to create technology that feels human, personal, and scalable. Their vision was ambitious, an AI-powered engagement platform that delivered trusted advice in the patient's own language, directly from their own doctor. More recently Acolyte have also expanded applications of their technology into supporting insurance providers to better inform patients and into training and staff onboarding within the healthcare space.

The Challenge

Hospitals worldwide struggle with a silent but expensive challenge: patients leaving with instructions they don't remember or can't understand.

Acolyte knew there had to be a better way. They envisioned "Digital Acolytes", synthetic video versions of real clinicians, delivering clear, repeatable, personalized instructions. The opportunity was powerful, but the product needed to be intuitive for patients, seamless for hospitals, and robust enough to handle scale and compliance.

Objectives

From the outset, Acolyte's goals were both patient-centric and operational:

  • Give patients the information they need, in a format they can trust and understand

  • Remove language as a barrier to care by supporting global, multilingual populations

  • Automate delivery so hospital staff could benefit without adding manual processes

  • Ensure security, compliance, and scalability to build confidence with healthcare systems including HIPAA compliance

These objectives set the benchmark for what success would look like: measurable improvements in adherence, reduced readmissions, and a product hospitals could adopt without hesitation.

The Solution

Acolyte partnered with MOHARA to turn vision into execution. Together, we built a platform designed not as another tool hospitals had to manage, but as an extension of their existing workflows.

Key components included:

Digital Twin Editor

A single caregiver video can become thousands of personalized patient instructions through AI.

Multilingual Video Engine

Built to support 120+ languages, making accessibility global and translation costs negligible.

Interactive Video Layer

With embedded appointment scheduling, surveys, and medication guidance, videos became action-oriented rather than passive content.

Health-Literate Scripts

Optimized at a 6th–7th grade level, ensuring clarity and comprehension for all patient demographics.

Automation Layer

Integrated directly into discharge workflows, sending videos via SMS or email without requiring staff intervention.

Integration Layer

Seamless integration with both FHIR and HL7 to both read and write from the healthcare system's EHR (Electronic Health Record).

Distribution System

Scheduled or triggered notifications via SMS or Email including complex multi-stage workflows

The result was a platform that feels personal to patients and invisible to staff, running in the background, scaling without friction.

Results

The platform quickly proved its value. From prototype to real-world pilots, adoption followed rapidly:

35,000+

Videos generated for patient engagement

$3.3M

Projected revenue in 2025

Major Hospital Pilots

  • Cedars-Sinai Hospital
  • United Healthcare
  • Montefiore Health
  • Winona Health and the NFL partnership (Learn more)

Industry Recognition

Recognition as a leader in AI-powered patient communication including presenting at HLTH 2025

Hospitals using the platform saw tangible benefits: clearer patient adherence, fewer readmissions, and freed-up staff resources. Patients, meanwhile, gained something rare in digital health, trust in a tool that sounded and looked like their own doctor.

Why MOHARA

Acolyte had the vision, but executing at speed and at scale required a partner with deep product and engineering capability. MOHARA played that role from day one.

We designed and built the Digital Twin Editor, integrated third-party AI technologies like Synthesia & D-ID into compliant workflows, and engineered the automation layer that allowed hospitals to adopt without operational disruption. Crucially, we built a secure, scalable infrastructure, giving Acolyte the confidence to pilot with major healthcare systems straight out of the gate.

By combining startup velocity with enterprise-grade rigor, MOHARA helped Acolyte transform a breakthrough idea into a product hospitals could rely on.
